In Neopets Magazine, it says that The Darkest Faerie thought she should be Altador’s sole ruler because she was a long-lived faerie, and the only faerie on the Council. But in the Book of Ages, it says that the whole Council is immortal. Not counting the two other faeries on it. And in The Darkest Faerie video game, it says Jerdana was the one who invited Siyana to the Council. But in the Book of Ages, it says Florin was the one who invited Siyana to the Council.
So what is the truth? Memory spell shenanigans?
Different writers writing lore on the fly at roughly the same time under deadlines. ? So let’s see here…
Book of Ages: Overseen by me and Mr. Insane for the plot based on only a small outline we’d gotten from Adam, plus the TCG cards, so we made most of that up during plot creation.
Magazine: What’s the byline? It was either an outside writer hired by Beckett or one of ours. Given the subject, I’d guess there’s no byline? So it’s one of ours. They would have been working from roughly the same amount of info we had on the plot, meaning they made most of it up and worked with very little oversight to submit it to Beckett on time.
TDF Game: Entire team of their writers but based on a bunch of stuff Adam had developed for the story and a lot of back and forth. Was also in development for eons and changed a lot.
So yeah, I couldn’t tell you which one is “true”. Later on, we tried really hard to make sure each hand knew what the other was doing to avoid just this thing, haha. But for any disputes that we ran across, we generally took what appeared on the site as canon in most situations. Meaning I would have given the Book of Ages precedence if I still had any say, which I don’t! Neopets would have to determine what’s “right” (makes the most sense) for any future official canon-setting they want to do!
I remember reading somewhere on te site this:
The Darkest Faerie wanted to become the sole ruler and felt she deserved it more than the others. This happened as the other founders (the Neopet ones) started to grow older, as time went by during their ruling. However Siyana blessed them with immortality to makesure their fair ruling continued.
