Heya! I’ve curious, do you know anything about the voices from the giant talking neopets plushes from around 2003? I’ve been wondering for a looong time if they were voiced by neopets staff members, voices picked or influenced by the neo staff somehow, or just completely picked out/handled by the company that manufactured the toys themselves? I always thought it would have been so cool if they were voiced by any of the staff so I’ve always wondered. I’m curious of the same for the voices in any of the games (on or offsite) but mostly the talking plushes. Thanks!

Snarkie, please, for the love of Fyora. Can you please explain to me why some pets can’t read some books? I know that whether or not a book will be considered “boring” is dependent on the amount of characters in the pet’s name, but WHY? What was the thought process behind that?! Was it just to irritate users? That’s the only reason I can think of.

Hi Snarkie! Just been catching up to what I missed on neo in the last… 8 years. It’s been super interesting to read everything from your POV since you left — love the reddit AMAs and the articles you’ve put together here! I have a weird question and it’s ok if you say no — I wanted to one day talk to the person who ran the Poetry Gallery and Storytelling competition, circa 2010. Are they by chance present online somewhere, in a publicly reachable place? Basically just want to tell them how much fun they brought to those contests, in what were to me some of my golden years on the site (having been playing since 2001). If there’s a way for you to respond privately (by email??) instead of publicly that would be awesome. Anyway, thanks for continuing to entertain us all with your stories about a job that is now far back in your rearview mirror. There’s something so fantastic about seeing you clear up some of the misconceptions, rumours, and general opaqueness that surrounded some of tnt’s actions. P.S. I used to spend many an hour drawing “realistic” neopets — my art is still up at [redacted] — and I can entirely credit neopets for developing those skills + a fairly lucrative freelance illustration business that got me through university!!

Balance of Random Events/Coincidence?
Howdy. I always wanted to ask you questions but I was too shy to.
There’s something causing a bit of a stir on Neopets so I thought I’d go to the presumed source for the answer.
TNT revamped Random Events around 2012/2013 or whenever the Coincidence Event happened. We noticed that some events like the Color Changing Pet Events were removed while others, mainly taxes, were added. Do you happen to remember why the team removed the Color Changing Events and doubled down on the Taxes? Someone (who I suspect is a troll but non-the-less) is arguing that since TNT removed Color Changing Events they should remove the other bad Random Events (taxes, stat loss, item loss) too. I’d say that defeats the purpose of having ” Random ” Events.
Can you perhaps explain the thought process behind deciding which Events should stay and go?

Hi there Snarkie! I’m a stamp collector and we (stamp collectors) have been facing – as you probably know/knew – stamp prices in levels that only a handy people can afford or either the stamp simply does not exist anymore (let’s ignore those sketchy accounts that come on the way selling them for cheap…). Talking about stamps like Coltzan, Garoo, Midnight Jelly… On the time you were in there, did you guys think about how to introduce more into the economy, and if yes, did you guys also considered how to keep them rare/kind of expensive, but still accessible/affordable? Could you share some of those ideas? I know we had the dr_sloth auctions a few years back, but even after that those stamps vanished and some go now for almost a billion NP which is non sense… thank you! 🙂

Jin here from the Nerkmid Project (New Fan Site, long time player). Where there any actual plans for the new Krawk Islands KEEP OUT that you can share or is it just a page to always say KEEP OUT for aesthetics?

Battledome Weapons
Do you recall if the Darigan Sword of Death did anything in the battledome? I’ve been trying to figure that out for ages, but with it being a one-of weapon, it seems everyone has kind of forgotten. Figured I would ask though, thanks!
New Battledome
Hi Snarkie! May I ask how the project for the new battledome redesign was conceived? While most users are very happy with the new daily rewards, many feel that the three challenger difficulty settings replacing the old hp increase with every win has effectively destroyed the competitiveness of 1p battledoming. That combined with a never-ending beta launched in October 2012, with some functionalities never being introduced at all, like stances, pet resistances, stealing, defenders of neopia, and featured challenger, plus a multitude of glitches in how weapons work in 1p and 2p, just to name a few.
The Obelisk War was released in march 2013 and after that there were not many updates regarding the BD.

TL;DR Why was HP increase scrapped in the BD? Was ir ever considered adding it as a fourth difficulty option, along with the 1p HSTs we used to have? Was the BD project abandoned for other priorities? Do you feel the new BD is better than the old one we have?

Hi Snarkie! Not sure if you remember me (probs not) but on Neopets I’m known as the “Grundo King” and I adopted your old Grundo Spryxle way back when. (Still have him!)
Anyways, I’m a MASSIVE Neopets Merchandise collector and have a lot of TNT Only merchandise (all of the large christmas plushies, TNT Base TCG Set binder, 2008 DD Staff Contest Winner mug and mousepad signed by Dirigibles), displays / advertisements from the Limited Too / Claire’s era, etc.
Any chance you’d give me first dibs on some of the Sloth / Grundo and/or Staff only merchandise you plan on selling in the future? 😉
